Ministry of Finance allocates Rp3.58 trillion for 'Sekolah Rakyat' programme in East Java

The progress of the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ construction has realised Rp3.58 trillion.

Saiful Islam, Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury of the Ministry of Finance for East Java Province, stated that the agency has spent Rp3.58 trillion, or 93.5 per cent of the Rp3.83 trillion ceiling, for the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ Programme up to August 2026.

“The progress of the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ construction has realised Rp3.58 trillion,” he said during a media briefing in Surabaya, East Java, on Wednesday.

For this year, there are 18 priority locations for ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ construction in East Java, divided into four work packages. The first package targets five locations: Sampang Regency, Surabaya City, Gresik Regency, Tuban Regency, and Tuban.

The second package targets four locations, including Nganjuk Regency, Ngawi Regency, Pacitan Regency, and Madiun Regency.

The third package targets four locations, namely Pasuruan Regency, Pasuruan City, Kediri Regency, and Kediri City.

The fourth package covers the construction of ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ in five locations: Malang Regency, Blitar Regency, Trenggalek Regency, Banyuwangi Regency, and Jember Regency.

Saiful noted that the construction of ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ in 14 out of the 18 regencies/cities in East Java is 100 per cent complete, and the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) has commenced as of June, July, and August 2026.

The 14 regencies/cities include Surabaya, Gresik, Sampang, Kediri City, Jombang, Kediri Regency, Tuban, Pasuruan City, Pasuruan Regency, Jember, Trenggalek, Malang, Blitar, and Banyuwangi.

Meanwhile, construction in the remaining four regencies/cities is still in progress: Madiun Regency is at 98.66 per cent, Nganjuk at 98.5 per cent, Ngawi at 98.55 per cent, and Pacitan at 98.87 per cent.

Furthermore, six ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ facilities include athletic tracks, specifically in Sampang, Tuban, Kediri Regency, Pasuruan City, Jember, and Banyuwangi.

Saiful stated that the construction of ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ in East Java is driving labour-intensive growth, as it involves 58,898 workers.

The total number of ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ in East Java can accommodate 6,731 students for the MPLS period, comprising 1,101 primary school students, 2,413 junior high school students, and 2,857 senior high school students.
