Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Implements Work from Home Today
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has begun implementing a work-from-home (WFH) system for one day per week among its staff, starting today, Friday (10/4/2026). The implementation of WFH for civil servants (ASN) is a follow-up to the government’s policy aimed at energy conservation. The regulations are outlined in the Circular Letter of the Minister of PAN-RB Number 3 of 2026 regarding the Implementation of Official Duties for ASN Employees in Government Agencies. “The WFH has started from today,” said one of the security guards when speaking to Kompas.com. According to him, high-ranking officials such as those at Echelon I level still come to the office. “For security, it’s full (attendance), and for housekeeping or general services, it seems full too from what I see,” he added. Based on Kompas.com’s observations at the ESDM Ministry office around 11:00 WIB, the ministry environment led by Bahlil Lahadalia showed a less bustling atmosphere than usual working days. This was evident from the motorcycle parking area, which was not as crowded. On normal working days, that parking area is typically full, with vehicles even parked in parallel. In the office environment, only a few employees were seen moving about in the corridor areas. Meanwhile, security personnel, cleaning staff (housekeeping), and other workers continued to carry out their duties as usual. The WFH policy for ASN was conveyed by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartanto. The government has chosen to implement it on Fridays each week. The selection of that day is not without reason.
