The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has confirmed that PLN electricity supply in South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi remains reliable ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Muhammad Mahmud Azhar Lubis, a ministry official, stated this after inspecting PLN’s control room for South Sulawesi’s electrical systems and the public electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU) operated by PLN Unit Distribution Company (Sulselrabar) in Makassar on Saturday. “I have checked PLN’s preparations and readiness in managing the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period this year. We can confirm that electricity capacity and requirements are sufficient,” he said.

The official also acknowledged that electricity supply serving South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi is currently secure.

PLN’s Director of Risk Management, Adi Lumakso, stated that the company had been preparing to secure electricity supply for the 1447 Hijri Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr celebrations well in advance. PLN has conducted comprehensive assessments and maintenance from upstream to downstream operations, ensuring all operational lines are in optimal condition. “To meet this Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr occasion, we have implemented preventive measures from various angles so that the community can perform fasting worship comfortably and celebrate Eid safely and without disruption,” Adi explained.

The General Manager of PT PLN Unit Distribution Company (Sulselrabar), Edyansyah, stated that PLN has deployed 102 emergency posts and 4,972 personnel in distribution and transmission to maintain safe and reliable electricity supply throughout Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri. “We have implemented various measures to ensure adequate electricity supply in the South Sulawesi system,” he said.

Edyansyah noted that to provide convenience for electric vehicle users travelling during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, PLN has established 69 public electric vehicle charging stations distributed across 53 locations within the Sulselrabar service area.

Edyansyah added that to provide the best service to all segments of society, PLN has also prepared supporting equipment during the alert period, including 152 generators, 30 uninterruptible power supply units, 79 mobile substations, 13 cranes, 308 vehicles and 169 motorcycles for operations. Additionally, 10 specialist teams trained in live-line work have been placed on standby.

“With all the preparations we have made, we are committed to providing the best service to the community by ensuring safe and reliable electricity supply throughout this year’s Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period,” Edyansyah stated.
