Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources coordinates with PLN on Jakarta power outages occurring twice a month

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is coordinating with PT PLN (Persero) regarding power outages in Jakarta that have occurred twice in one month. “So for this, I have also coordinated. The team from the Directorate General of Electricity has coordinated with PLN on what caused the (power outage),” said Deputy Minister of ESDM Yuliot when met at the Ministry of ESDM office in Jakarta on Friday. Yuliot conveyed that the Directorate General of Electricity team is currently in the field conducting an investigation into the cause of the power outage in Jakarta. He also stated that there is a possibility of replacing equipment at several substations suspected to be the cause of the power outages in Jakarta. “The cause of that (power outage) will be resolved, including the possibility of replacing equipment at several substations,” said Yuliot. Previously, a power outage also occurred in several areas of Jakarta on Thursday (9/4). At that time, PLN stated that the disruption originated from the system at several substations, causing a temporary halt in electricity supply to the affected areas. In response to the situation, PLN quickly mobilised personnel in the field to carry out normalisation. The restoration process was done gradually to ensure the electricity system returned to stable and safe conditions before being supplied to customers. The blackout impacted MRT services, with operational disruptions at several stations on Thursday (9/4) afternoon at 17:57 WIB.
