Ministry of Education Urges Unpad Rector to Hasten Investigation into Professor Accused of Harassing Foreign Student
Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) has temporarily suspended a lecturer suspected of involvement in a sexual violence case within the campus environment. Mendikti Saintek Brian Yuliarto stated that his side has already coordinated with Unpad. “Yes, we have been monitoring this case. I have also communicated directly with the Rector of Unpad, and the Kemdiktisaintek team has coordinated with the campus,” Brian told detikcom on Saturday (18/4/2026). “Unpad has temporarily suspended the individual in question and formed an investigation team involving the Satgas PPKPT,” he added. Brian emphasised that the campus environment must be a safe place from all forms of harm. He also firmly requested that the Rector of Unpad investigate the allegations transparently. “Our principle is clear: the campus must be a safe space. Therefore, protection and support for the victim must be the priority,” he said. “We have asked the Rector to ensure that the examination process runs quickly, transparently, and objectively to provide a sense of justice for the victim,” he added. Furthermore, Brian assured that his side will continue to monitor the case to ensure the entire process is fair and thorough. If violations are proven, he said, sanctions must be enforced strictly in accordance with regulations. The alleged sexual violence case went viral on the social media platform X. IY, an official professor from Unpad’s Faculty of Nursing (FKep), is suspected of asking a foreign exchange student to send photos while wearing a bikini.
