Ministry of Defence to evaluate ASN selection system for reserve components

The Head of the National Reserve Agency (Kabacadnas) of the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant General TNI Gabriel Lema, stated that his office will evaluate the selection system for civil servants (ASN) wishing to undergo reserve component (Komcad) training.

Gabriel made this statement in connection with the death of an ASN reserve component participant during training.

“Everything (the selection system) will be evaluated. All mechanisms, all stages that exist,” said Gabriel when met at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Tuesday.

According to him, the evaluation is necessary to ensure that civil servants are properly screened, particularly in the health sector, before undertaking reserve component training. With stricter selection, Gabriel is confident that the successful candidates will be better prepared for the training process.

However, he did not explain in detail which specific points of the selection and training stages would be subject to evaluation.

At the same time and location, ANTARA queried the Minister of Defence, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, regarding the death of the ASN participant during training. However, Sjafrie declined to comment on the matter.

Previously, the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed his condolences via his Instagram account, @teukuriefky, on Monday (28/9). In his post, he identified the deceased ASN as Vanreko Varkas Bagaskara. While the post did not specify the exact cause of death, Teuku stated that his office would continue to oversee the process from the arrival of the body until the funeral.
