The Ministry of Defence, together with TNI Headquarters, held a silaturahmi event with TNI retirees. The Minister of Defence and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto invited several TNI elders to the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Building of the Ministry of Defence in Central Jakarta on Friday morning (24/4/2026) WIB.

Head of the Infohan Bureau of the Ministry of Defence’s Secretariat General, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, explained that the meeting was part of efforts to strengthen strategic communication between the active generation and seniors who have made significant contributions to national defence. According to him, the forum served as a space to convey the latest developments regarding the direction of national defence policy.

“This includes strategies for the future development of TNI strength. At the same time, it listens to various constructive inputs and views from retirees on the evolving strategic environment,” said Rico to the media following the meeting.

According to Rico, the silaturahmi also reaffirmed that Indonesia’s defence policy remains grounded in constitutional principles and national interests. “With an active defensive strategy oriented towards maintaining state sovereignty without disturbing existing regional stability,” Rico stated.

In addition, he said, various programmes to strengthen the TNI’s posture were discussed. This encompasses organisational aspects, modernisation, and human resource development as part of efforts to build an adaptive, professional, and sustainable defence force.

“And no less important, this activity also serves as a momentum to strengthen synergy and continuity of strategic thinking between current soldiers and retirees, so that national defence policy retains strong historical roots while being responsive to future challenges,” said Rico.

He noted that the Ministry of Defence conveyed appreciation for the various inputs provided directly by the TNI elders. Rico stated that the Indonesian Minister of Defence views these inputs as part of the process to perfect future defence policies.

Furthermore, according to Rico, inputs from TNI elders will also be conveyed to the President of Indonesia. “Of course, this becomes part of the inputs and information received from retirees and seniors, with the hope that in the future it will be part of evaluations or improvements,” Rico explained.
