Ministry of Defence Mourns the Passing of Corporal Rico Pramudia, TNI Soldier in UNIFIL

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) is mourning the passing of Corporal Rico Pramudia following medical treatment after the TNI soldier was injured while serving as UNIFIL personnel.

“The passing of Corporal Rico Pramudia during the execution of the world peacekeeping mission with UNIFIL in southern Lebanon is a profound sorrow. The late soldier passed away after undergoing treatment for wounds sustained during his assignment,” as quoted from the official Instagram account of the Ministry of Defence in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA on Friday (25/4/2026).

Corporal Rico was one of three TNI soldiers who sustained injuries from an attack in Lebanon on Sunday, 23 April 2026.

“Corporal Rico Pramudia suffered severe injuries, while Corporal Bayu Prakoso and Corporal Arif Kurniawan sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment,” said the Head of Information for the TNI Headquarters, Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Monday (20/4).

In that incident, Corporal Farizal Romadhon, who was also at the same location, was killed by a direct attack.

Rico, who suffered severe injuries, was immediately evacuated to St George Hospital in Beirut by helicopter to receive intensive medical treatment.

However, after several weeks of intensive care, Rico was declared deceased at the hospital.

In a written statement on platform X, UNIFIL expressed condolences over the passing of 31-year-old Corporal Rico.

“UNIFIL is saddened by the death of Corporal Rico Pramudia, who was seriously injured due to a projectile explosion at its headquarters in Adchit Al Qusayr on the night of 29 March,” UNIFIL stated on platform X on Friday (24/4/2026), quoted from ANTARA.

UNIFIL announced that Corporal Rico died after nearly a month of medical treatment in Beirut due to severe injuries.
