Ministry of Defence Employee Mobbed by Crowd at Depok Terminal After Reprimanding Mother Suspected of Scolding Child

JAKARTA — A Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan) employee became the target of a mob’s fury at Depok Baru Terminal in West Java on Saturday night (25/4/2026). The incident went viral on social media after a video of the assault on the victim circulated widely. One such video was uploaded by the Instagram account @jabodetabek24info. In the footage, a man identified as a Kemenhan employee, wearing a collared shirt with grey and white stripes, is seen being beaten by a man in a red plaid flannel shirt and jeans. The husband of the mother reportedly took offence when his wife was reprimanded, leading to an argument. The situation then heated up, resulting in the assault on the victim. Several other passengers at the location were also provoked into joining the mob attack. The incident was confirmed by Bergas Fajar, the Terminal Integrated Depok Baru Management Officer, who was present and tried to break up the fight. “He (the Kemenhan employee) was trying to mediate or reprimand the mother who was scolding her child in a joking manner. Then the mother didn’t accept it,” Bergas said when contacted by Kompas.com on Sunday (26/4/2026). According to Bergas, the mother immediately became emotional after being reprimanded and raised her voice at the victim. The situation intensified when the mother’s husband also lost his temper and punched the victim.
