The Head of the National Reserve Agency of the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant General Gabriel Lema, stated that in the near future, eight provincial governments will involve their employees in training as part of the Reserve Component (Komcad).

“Between now and the end of the year, approximately seven to eight provinces will participate in the Komcad programme, including South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, Riau Islands, North Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and North Maluku,” Gabriel said during a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Gabriel explained that the participation of civil servants (ASN) from these eight provinces follows the precedent set by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, which previously sent 500 civil servants to undergo Komcad training alongside the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

Gabriel welcomed this development, noting that it demonstrates the regional governments’ awareness of the importance of strengthening nationalism and patriotism among civil servants. He ensured that the training for provincial civil servants would proceed smoothly and adhere to the established standards for basic military training.

Furthermore, Gabriel emphasised that the civil servants participating in the training will undergo rigorous health and psychological selection to ensure the smooth progression of the educational process. Through this Komcad training, Gabriel hopes that provincial civil servants will develop a strong sense of nationalism and patriotism, enabling them to provide the best possible service to both citizens and the state.
