Ministry of Culture Supports Creation of Children's Songs Through KILA 2026
The Ministry of Culture is running the Kita Cinta Lagu Anak (KILA) 2026 programme to support the creation of more children’s songs through songwriting and singing competitions. Consistently implemented since 2020, the KILA programme represents the ministry’s efforts to encourage the creation of children’s songs, develop young talent, and utilise children’s songs as a medium for education, entertainment, and character building.
Minister of Culture Fadli Zon invited the public to participate. ‘I encourage everyone to dare to create, dare to sing, and dare to show their best talent through KILA 2026. Let us together present Indonesian children’s songs for the future of the nation,’ he said in a ministry press statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. He described KILA 2026 as a creative space to encourage the birth of more quality children’s songs that can serve as a means of instilling values, building character, strengthening self-confidence, and increasing love for culture and the nation.
Director General of Cultural Development, Utilisation, and Guidance Ahmad Mahendra stated that KILA is part of efforts to build a sustainable arts and culture ecosystem. According to him, KILA not only encourages the creation of quality children’s songs but also increases public appreciation for them. ‘Through this programme, we want to ensure that Indonesian children’s songs continue to be produced, disseminated, and appreciated by the public,’ he said. He expressed hope that KILA would spur the creation of quality children’s songs and musical works, as well as the regeneration of Indonesian child singers.
KILA 2026 includes a Children’s Song Creation Competition and a Children’s Song Singing Competition. Registration for KILA 2026 participants opens from 22 June to 31 August. After the registration process, activities will continue with curation and auditions. The Grand Final and KILA 2026 Performance are scheduled for 18 September 2026. The series of events also includes performances by KILA Ambassadors, production of children’s song video clips, and a digital campaign to promote children’s songs.
