Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Culture is holding a creative video content competition themed on museums and cultural heritage as an effort to encourage young people to become actors and ambassadors of culture in the digital realm. Registration for the “Aku dan Budayaku” creative video content competition is open from 5 May to 30 June 2026, and information on participant requirements can be accessed via the lombaakudanbudayaku.com website. “We hope that through this creative video content competition, we can invite the younger generation not only to be consumers of culture but also to become creators, actors, and ambassadors of culture in the digital space,” said Minister of Culture Fadli Zon in Jakarta on Monday. He stated that every region in Indonesia has historical sites and cultural heritage that hold many stories. “Now we record there are 313 cultural heritage sites in the regions, which are national-level cultural heritage, from Aceh to Papua,” he said. Participants in the creative video content competition are asked to create content focused on 20 museums and 34 national-level cultural heritage sites, as well as museums and cultural heritage at the district and provincial levels available from Aceh to Papua. Participants can create short videos lasting three minutes using mobile phones to be uploaded to Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. Each account is allowed to upload one piece of content to one platform. Therefore, each participant can upload a total of three different pieces of content to the three specified digital platforms. However, he said that video content suspected of being generated using artificial intelligence will be disqualified. Director General of Development, Utilisation, and Coaching of Culture Ahmad Mahendra hopes that the video contents created by competition participants can become a source for increasing cultural literacy. In addition, he continued, the winners of the competition are expected to help increase concern for museums and cultural heritage as well as mobilise the formation of cultural communities. “So yes, there will be growth from young people building communities like cultural explorations,” he said.
