Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Culture is exploring opportunities for collaboration to preserve cultural heritage and Palestinian culture museums with academics from Palestine. “Substance is important; perhaps an exhibition, narrative and storytelling, how Indonesia supports the Palestinian army, how the government up to parliament supports,” said Minister of Culture Fadli Zon in an official statement confirmed from Jakarta, Thursday. Fadli said this during a meeting with Palestinian academics namely Shofwan Al Banna Choiruzzad together with Dr. Thoriq, and Dr. Saleh in Jakarta, Thursday. Thereafter, Dr. Thoriq, based in Ramallah, explained that the foundation they run has three main missions: protection and preservation of artefacts and Palestinian cultural heritage, empowerment of local communities, and strengthening education so that people have resilience in pursuing justice. Meanwhile, Dr. Saleh described conditions of people in the West Bank who face mobility constraints, limited access to education, and various socio-economic pressures due to the prolonged conflict, and discussed opportunities for developing collaborative programs, including organising Palestinian cultural exhibitions and strengthening networks among museums in Indonesia. In line with this, the Ministry of Culture also commits to promoting cultural cooperation with friendly states as part of efforts to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen the role of culture in building solidarity among nations.
