Ministry of Creative Economy Supports Voice Talent Development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency supports the development of voice-over talents and the strengthening of the voice-over industry ecosystem.
Deputy for Media Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Cecep Rukendi, stated that the ministry is organising workshops and running programmes such as the Wonder Voice of Indonesia voice-over competition to support the strengthening of the voice-over industry ecosystem.
As quoted in the ministry’s press release on Thursday, Cecep explained that the growth of the creative economy is creating more opportunities for the voice-over industry.
According to the Creative Economy Statistics released by the Central Statistics Agency at the end of 2025, the creative economy sector’s contribution to Gross Domestic Product reached Rp1,611.2 trillion, with investment value in the sector amounting to Rp183.01 trillion in 2025.
“That growth is also opening up significant opportunities for the voice-over and dubbing industry, which is increasingly needed amid the rapid development of digital content,” said Cecep.
The Ministry of Creative Economy, together with the Solidarity of Women for Indonesia Cabinet Red White (Seruni KMP), has held the Creative Economy Talent Development Workshop: Voice Over (Dubbing) in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.
The workshop, held at the Office of the Bank Indonesia Representative for West Kalimantan Province, was carried out with support from PT PLN (Persero), the Pontianak City Dekranasda, as well as several related ministries and agencies.
Workshop participants received technical vocal training as well as understanding of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), personal image building, and networking strategies.
“We want young talents not only to be skilled at selling their voices but also to understand business aspects, IPR, and how to build personal branding on global platforms,” said Cecep.
Workshop participants also gained insights into the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and its impact on the dubbing industry.
Professional voice talent Bimo Kusumo, as a speaker at the workshop, emphasised the importance of human emotion in voice-over.
“It’s true that AI can mimic tones, but AI will never be able to replace empathy and heartfelt storytelling,” he said.
“In the voice-over industry, we are not just producing sounds, but building emotional connections with listeners, and human originality is what will continue to be sought after,” said the member of the mentoring team at Voice Institute Indonesia.
