Ministry of Creative Economy supports development of experience-based local IP
The Ministry of Creative Economy supports the expansion of local intellectual property (IP) based on experiences, transforming them into creative products that provide both economic benefits and social spaces.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefly Harsya stated that the development of local IP does not always have to take the form of talent training or digital content alone, but can also be achieved through the creation of innovative, immersive, and economically valuable experiential spaces.
“When the local creative industry is able to translate creativity into immersive physical spaces like this, we are not only creating new economic value, but also building places where our future generations can grow to be resilient and adaptive,” said Riefky during his visit to the opening of Wonderlab at Senayan City, Jakarta, on Monday.
Riefky also noted that Wonderlab could serve as a medium for children’s physical activities through immersive experiences, acting as a creative space for children to explore.
“This is not just a playground, but also a way to train physical skills through experiences and activities that encourage children to move and be active, in a safe and comfortable environment that also features character IP,” Riefky added.
Various facilities are provided, ranging from immersive adventure zones and multidisciplinary ‘Wonder Classes’ for children aged 1–8, to an interactive ball pit containing 320,000 balls, which is one of the largest in Jakarta.
Adopting the philosophy of ‘mens sana in corpore sano’ (a healthy mind in a healthy body), Wonderlab combines projection mapping technology with physical movement to build children’s confidence and their ability to face challenges through play.
CEO of Genexyz, Belinda Luis, stated that Wonderlab aims to provide a balance between academic development and physical development to shape a child’s character.
“Wonderlab is here to restore that balance; it is a space where children and pre-teens can move, think, try, even fail and try again, growing into individuals who are brave, resilient, adaptive, and possess high curiosity,” said Belinda.
