Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf) is supporting the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2026 as a solution to accelerate the crafts and local product design subsector sustainably to the global market.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy wants to ensure that creative industry players not only excel in production but are also competitive in design, raw material sustainability, and global marketing strategies,” said Minister Teuku Riefky in a written statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

The Minister said that with a strong ecosystem, Indonesian furniture could become a major player in the world market.

He said IFEX 2026 represents a momentum to accelerate exports of Indonesian furniture and crafts.

Teuku Riefky emphasised that this event is proof that the furniture industry is among the subsectors of the creative economy with strong competitiveness and a significant contribution to national exports.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy will continue to support national furniture products so that they gain greater recognition and are increasingly in demand in global markets,” the Minister said.

As an international-scale exhibition of furniture and home décor crafts, IFEX serves as a meeting point for collaboration among designers, associations, government, as well as Indonesian furniture and craft practitioners with buyers, importers, distributors, and other business players, driving the sustainable growth of the furniture industry.

The event, running 5–8 March 2026, IFEX 2026 is organised through the synergy of the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI) and PT Dyandra Promosindo.

Last year’s IFEX is considered successful in broadening networks and increasing market exposure to several regions such as Europe, the United States, China, Australia, and India.

Additionally, IFEX 2025 recorded potential transactions worth USD 350 million with the participation of 500 exhibitors.

The Ministry of Creative Economy’s support for IFEX 2026 includes booths that present six local craft brands such as Abbacraft, Craftote, El Art, Lumosh Living, Manamu, and Passion of Art Indonesia (POAI).

The opportunity to showcase creative collaborations is also realised in the RaRe Project (Rattan Refreshed & Regeneration), a collaboration between product designers and the rattan manufacturing industry.
