Ministry of Creative Economy Awarded Best Government Partner for Game Development in Indonesia
The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, attended the 2026 National Congress of the Indonesia Esports Association (Munas IESPA). During the congress, the Ministry of Creative Economy received an award as the best government agency partner for its continuous collaboration in supporting the development of the gaming subsector in Indonesia.
“Gaming is one of the priority subsectors in the development of the national creative economy. The Ministry of Creative Economy focuses not only on talent but on the entire ecosystem, including gamers, casters, communities, event organisers, media, and new professions within the gaming subsector that create employment and growth opportunities for Indonesia’s youth,” stated Riefky at Balai Kartini, Jakarta.
Riefky noted that the Ministry is confident that every innovation within the gaming industry represents a new achievement that must be encouraged across generations. He also emphasised that the growth of the creative economy is driven by the younger generation seeking creative spaces based on their interests, allowing the gaming subsector to provide high-quality employment.
“Almost 60 per cent of Gen Z and Millennials wish to work according to their passion and prefer jobs that develop each creative economy subsector. They are spread from Sabang to Merauke with creativity suited to the digital era. The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to collaborate in the future to ensure the Indonesian esports ecosystem becomes more advanced, professional, and achieves greater prestige for the nation,” Riefky added.
Previously, the Ministry of Creative Economy and IESPA signed a Memorandum of Understanding as a commitment to developing the direction of the Indonesian esports ecosystem. This long-term collaboration is expected to align digital talent, create economic value, and expand innovation spaces for the gaming subsector to support national esports.
“We thank the Ministry of Creative Economy for providing space for content creators, game developers, and all gaming subsector enthusiasts to grow together. We want IESPA to focus not only on training athletes or pro players but also on building the entire esports ecosystem chain. With stronger collaboration, we are optimistic that Indonesian esports can go further and possess regional and global strength,” said Ibnu Sulistyo Riza Pradipto, Chairman of IESPA.
