Ministry of Cooperatives Requests Rp4.53 Trillion Budget Increase for 2027 to Support Digitalisation and Human Resource Development

The Ministry of Cooperatives has proposed an additional budget of Rp4.53 trillion for the 2027 fiscal year, which will be directed towards strengthening institutions, business development, human resources, as well as the supervision and mentoring of cooperatives.

During a working meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono stated that the proposal consists of Rp541 billion for strengthening operational support and Rp3.99 trillion for strengthening technical programmes.

The additional budget is specifically earmarked for institutional strengthening, digitalisation, and the creation of a unified cooperative database, amounting to Rp966 billion.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Cooperatives has proposed Rp333.72 billion for downstreaming programmes and the development of cooperative businesses through the expansion of business units, strengthening supply chains, and improving partnerships and access to financing.

To enhance human resources (HR), the Ministry has proposed a budget of Rp1.98 trillion. These funds will be utilised for cooperative education and training, competency certification, talent development, training for administrators and managers, the development of a national cooperative curriculum, and digital learning.

Meanwhile, Rp1.25 trillion has been proposed for the supervision and mentoring of cooperatives, including the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP).

This allocation includes mentoring for KDKMP, the assignment of business assistants, monitoring and evaluation, health assessments, cooperative coaching, and the handling of cooperative grievances.

For 2027, the Ministry of Cooperatives has received an indicative budget ceiling of Rp542.88 billion. The Ministry subsequently received an additional Rp200 billion, bringing the total budget ceiling to Rp742.88 billion.

“We hope that the support from Commission VI can strengthen our collective efforts to build cooperatives that are institutionally strong, productive in business, professional in management, and provide tangible benefits to members and the community,” said the Minister.
