Ministry of Cooperatives Partners with BNSP to Prepare Certification for Merah Putih Village Cooperative Managers

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) is collaborating with the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) to prepare a certification scheme for 30,000 Managers of Merah Putih Village/Urban Ward Cooperatives (Kopdes). Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono stated that his ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the scheme for managers and treasurers of Kopdes Merah Putih. “So that the managers and treasurers of Merah Putih Village/Urban Ward Cooperatives are properly guided through mentoring and supported by the issuance of certificates for those positions,” Ferry said during a press conference at the Ministry’s office in Jakarta on Friday (8/5/2026). He mentioned that Kopdes Merah Putih will soon be operational in the near future. “We have high hopes for this collaboration,” Ferry added. On the same occasion, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives Farida Farichah stated that managers of Kopdes Merah Putih who pass the selection will undergo education for one and a half months. “After the education is completed, certification will then be carried out,” Farida said. Subsequently, briefing and certification will also be provided to the treasurers of Kopdes Merah Putih. The politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB) said that the government wants Kopdes Merah Putih to become the centre of the economy at the grassroots level. “If they are competent, if the human resources have the appropriate competencies for their positions, we hope that its operationalisation will truly run smoothly and the business will also progress,” Farida remarked. Meanwhile, Head of BNSP Syamsu Bahri stated that through this certification, it is hoped that managers and treasurers will manage Kopdes Merah Putih in accordance with applicable standards. With this scheme, it is expected that Managers and Treasurers of Kopdes Merah Putih will possess the necessary competencies.
