Ministry of Cooperatives and Green X Sign MoU to Fulfil Electricity Needs of Merah Putih Village Cooperatives in Remote Areas

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Energy Absolute Green X Indonesia on Monday (20/4/2026).

Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono stated that the cooperation concerns fulfilling the electricity needs of Merah Putih Village/Urban Village Cooperatives (Kopdes) in remote areas.

Through this collaboration, Kopdes Merah Putih in remote regions will utilise 0.5 MW-scale Solar Power Plants (PLTS).

“By using solar-based energy, we can solve problems in villages regarding access to electricity, where the number of villages with limited electricity access is not insignificant,” said Ferry in his statement on Monday.

Meanwhile, Kopdes Merah Putih requires a stable electricity supply in its operations to ensure business activities run smoothly.

Ferry appreciated Green X for its commitment to supporting Kopdes Merah Putih.

According to him, the MoU covers a comprehensive study of the development and operation of PLTS connected to energy storage.

The Gerindra Party politician hopes that the MoU can be quickly realised with tangible pilots so that it can be expanded to various regions.

He views PLTS as a logical solution in meeting electricity needs in remote villages.

“It is hoped that this cooperation can also help achieve the President’s target of achieving energy self-sufficiency,” said Ferry.
