Ministry of Cooperatives: 3,135 Red and White Village Cooperatives Ready to Operate, 34,000 Still Under Construction

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Cooperatives records that the construction of Red and White Village/Urban Village Cooperatives has reached 3,135 units. All of them have been completed and are ready to operate.

Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono stated that cooperatives with completed physical construction immediately enter the operational preparation stage.

“Those with 100 per cent completed physical buildings number 3,135 and are in operational preparation, but the 34,000 that are currently under construction should, God willing, be finished in the next one to two months,” said Ferry when met at the Ministry of Cooperatives office in Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026).

“Already thousands (of vehicles) were distributed to the Red and White Village Cooperatives yesterday, and they seem adequate and can be used,” Ferry added.

The procurement of these vehicles is part of a total of 105,000 units ordered by PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero).

The details consist of 35,000 units of 4x4 pickup trucks from Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), 35,000 units of 4x4 pickup trucks, and 35,000 units of six-wheeled lorries from Tata Motors.

“This is a total of 105,000 (vehicles), but they are provided in stages; as soon as a Red and White Village Cooperative is completed, with its physical building, warehouse, and equipment, it is immediately equipped with trucks and pickups,” said Ferry.

The Red and White Village/Urban Village Cooperatives programme targets the construction of 80,000 units across Indonesia. This programme is directed at encouraging village economic activities and opening up job opportunities.
