Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) is investigating the alleged data leak of several unreleased games on the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS). Previously, IGRS came under public scrutiny for allegedly causing clips from various unreleased game titles to spread on the internet. “To avoid the assumptions circulating on social media, we are now conducting an overall investigation,” said Director of Digital Ecosystem Development at Kemkomdigi, Sonny Hendra Sudaryana, during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday. Sonny explained that Kemkomdigi is evaluating the overall implementation of IGRS from the perspectives of policy, system, processes, technology, organisation, and human resources. “So we want comprehensive results, not piecemeal. That’s why this investigation is thorough, and we will report the results so there are no more assumptions,” he emphasised. In this investigation, Kemkomdigi is involving various parties, including game publishers and industry players. Sonny stated that once findings related to the evaluation of IGRS implementation are obtained, they will immediately convey the investigation results to the public. It is known that the alleged leak on the IGRS system emerged after clips of several unreleased games, such as “007: First Light,” were reported to have spread on the internet. The incident was triggered by a security vulnerability in the IGRS system, which allowed private submission materials—intended solely for the classification process—to be accessed publicly. Additionally, clips from Bandai Namco’s game “Echoes of Aincrad” also leaked, showing several important moments in the game. Furthermore, there are reports that this incident also exposed thousands of email addresses belonging to game developers. While the evaluation and investigation processes are ongoing, Kemkomdigi has suspended the IGRS rating process. The suspension is intended to make future IGRS implementation more credible, so it can be trusted by the public and industry players.
