Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs Supports ICANN87 in Bali
The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has expressed full support for the ICANN87 Annual General Meeting, which will be held in Bali from 17–22 October 2026. This commitment was conveyed during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria, the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Manager (PANDI), and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) at the Kemkomdigi office in Jakarta.
During the meeting, Nezar welcomed the visit from PANDI and ICANN as part of the preparations for ICANN87. He also stated that an invitation would be extended to Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid to attend and open the event.
PANDI and ICANN expressed their appreciation for the support and collaboration established with Kemkomdigi. As the local host of ICANN87, PANDI emphasised that the ministry’s backing is crucial for ensuring the success of the global internet governance forum, particularly regarding cross-stakeholder coordination and technical preparations. Discussions also covered support for technical aspects, including coordination related to Customs and immigration permits.
ICANN87 will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend both in person and virtually. Registration for the event is set to open on 6 July 2026.
