Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo led an inter-sectoral meeting to prepare for smooth Eid 2026 homecoming and return traffic. Sigit stated that the peak outbound travel is predicted to occur twice. The meeting was held at the Mutiara Auditorium, STIK-PTIK Lemdiklat Polri, on Monday, 2 March 2026. The meeting was also attended by Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare Pratikno, Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, and Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi. The Deputy Operations Commander of the Military, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency, Head of the Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency, and leaders of state-owned enterprises including Pertamina, Jasa Marga, and Jasa Raharja were also present.
Sigit stated that the peak homecoming traffic for Eid 2026 is predicted to occur twice. This aligns with the government’s implementation of a work-from-anywhere policy.
“The prediction for the first peak homecoming period is likely to occur on 14-15 March. Then the government implements work-from-home, usually between 16 and 17 March. Meanwhile, the prediction for the second peak homecoming period is on 18-19 March,” said General Sigit.
He stated that during this period there is also Nyepi Day. Therefore, cross-strait arrangements between East Java and Bali are necessary to honour Hindu believers.
Police also predict that the peak return traffic for Eid 2026 will occur twice. The first peak return is estimated to occur on 24-25 March and the second peak return on 28-29 March 2026.
“The prediction for the first peak return period is on 24 and 25 March. The prediction for the second peak return period is 28 to 29 March,” he said.
