Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs Launches DEAL 2026 to Strengthen Indonesia's Digital Solidarity
The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemenkomdigi), through its Directorate General of Digital Ecosystem, has officially initiated the Digital Ecosystem Alignment (DEAL) 2026 movement. This movement is designed as a platform for cross-sector solidarity and mutual cooperation to strengthen and accelerate digital transformation in Indonesia. The declaration of eight DEAL collaboration packages took place on Tuesday (23/6/2026) in Jakarta, witnessed directly by Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid. The forum brought together government, industry, academics, investors, startups, MSMEs, and local governments in a tangible collaborative space.
Meutya asserted that DEAL 2026 is not merely a ceremonial agenda to present programme reports or statistics. Instead, this forum is a crucial momentum to align steps through the spirit of ‘gotong royong’ (mutual cooperation), which is the nation’s identity. “The spirit of gotong royong has been Indonesia’s value since the birth of the nation. Gotong royong is our authentic identity, which we must now bring into the digital realm through the movement of Weaving Indonesia’s Digital Solidarity,” Meutya said while opening the forum. She added that this collaboration is essential to ensure the digital ecosystem becomes more equitable, so that economic growth can be directly felt by all levels of society. “As one nation, we must move with a single purpose: to realise digital justice and technological independence for all Indonesian people,” she stressed.
The initiative includes concrete programmes such as the utilisation of the Internet of Things (IoT) for farmer groups and fish farmers in Sleman, Banjarnegara, and Lamongan; practical AI training for 100 to 150 MSME actors in Wonogiri and Banyuwangi; the development of the DARA feature to mitigate the risk of gaming addiction in children; and the construction of a Dashboard Ecosystem as a single source of truth for national data.
The strategic cross-sector collaboration approach is directed towards concrete implementation that addresses real needs on the ground. Meutya stated that digital transformation is about working together to answer public needs, strengthen industry, and improve the quality of state governance. The event was attended by the leadership of Kemenkomdigi, including Vice Ministers Angga Raka Prabowo and Nezar Patria, as well as representatives from various high-level state institutions such as the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs, the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Creative Economy, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the National Police (Polri), and the Danantara sovereign wealth fund. Support from local governments was evident with the presence of Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas, Lamongan Regent Yuhronur Efendi, and Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat. From the industry side, telecommunications giants such as Telkom, Telkomsel, and PT Pos Indonesia committed to the movement alongside startup players, content creators, and MSME communities. “We position DEAL 2026 as a space for alignment to ensure all parties move in unison towards Indonesia’s digital sovereignty,” Meutya concluded.
