Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education strengthens understanding of Safe and Comfortable School Culture
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is strengthening multi-stakeholder understanding and commitment to implementing the Safe and Comfortable School Culture across all educational institutions through a hybrid seminar.
Secretary-General of Kemendikdasmen Suharti said the ministry is ensuring the implementation of Ministerial Regulation No. 6 of 2026 on Safe and Comfortable School Culture in all educational institutions, whether formal, informal, or non-formal.
“The hybrid seminar today is also expected to serve as a platform for sharing best practices, reinforcing understanding and collective commitment to implementing the Safe and Comfortable School Culture across Indonesia,” Suharti said at the seminar held at Kemendikdasmen’s Building A in Central Jakarta on Monday.
The ministry hopes the seminar’s discussions will drive strategic policy and practical steps at both institutional and policy levels.
“Every student in Indonesia should be able to learn in a safe, comfortable, inclusive environment that supports their optimal development,” Suharti added.
Save the Children Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Dessy Kurwiany Ukar said her organisation, as a Kemendikdasmen partner, is working to ensure education services focus not only on academic achievement but also on ensuring children feel safe, valued, and protected in learning environments.
One programme, Kreasi Kolaborasi for Indonesian Children’s Education, is a concrete effort to accelerate literacy and numeracy improvements, character strengthening and child protection through interventions at over 500 educational institutions across eight districts in four provinces: North Sumatra, Lampung, West Kalimantan, and North Maluku.
“We fully recognise that improving education quality is inseparable from the quality of the learning environment. Therefore, the implementation of Ministerial Regulation No. 6 of 2026 on Safe and Comfortable School Culture is a highly strategic step that we greatly appreciate,” Dessy said.
