Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education showcases student creativity at Pentas Pelajar 2026
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has showcased the spirit of ‘Rukun Sama Teman’ through diverse expressions of creativity, talent, and works by Indonesian students from various regions at the Pentas Pelajar 2026 event. Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti said the event featured a range of activities, including student band festivals, short film screenings and workshops, digital comic demonstrations, traditional market snacks, and various interactive activities steeped in values of togetherness, empathy, and friendship. He explained that Kemendikdasmen previously organised the ‘Rukun Sama Teman’ Movement and Song Competition since February 2026, which received immense enthusiasm across Indonesia, involving over 24,000 participants and more than 3,000 entries from 38 provinces. He also noted that Indonesian schools abroad participated in the activity. He stated that the students’ boldness in rearranging songs demonstrates the growing artistic potential and creativity of Indonesia’s youth. “This is a very bold creativity. In my view, it is an example of how Indonesian children have remarkable artistic potential,” he added. Through this initiative, the ministry aims not only to encourage students to build solidarity, togetherness, and a culture of mutual respect in schools, but also in their daily lives. In the competition, Bandung State Vocational High School No. 10 took first place, Denpasar State Senior High School No. 4 came second, and Pangkalan Bun State Senior High School No. 1 secured third. Leonel, representing Bandung State Vocational High School No. 10, explained that his group aimed to create an arrangement that is not only musically appealing but also effectively conveys the song’s message to listeners. “From the lyrics, we wanted to emphasise that the song is not just to be sung, but also felt and acted upon by listeners. This can be achieved with cheerful, upbeat, fast-tempo music. Thus, listeners can better internalise and express the spirit of the ‘Rukun Sama Teman’ movement, and subsequently implement it,” Leonel said.
