Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has received best practices regarding collaboration between schools and parents in implementing the Academic Ability Test (TKA) for primary education level in Yapen Islands Regency, Papua Province.

The Head of SD Negeri Awado, Muhajir, stated in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday that this year his school conducted the TKA at SD Integral Lukman Al Hakim Serui.

This required teachers and students to travel by boat to reach the location.

On the same occasion, the Head of SD Integral Lukman Al Hakim Serui, Mahfud Fauzi, explained that they had thoroughly prepared the students.

Overall, teachers and students were ready to take the TKA. In addition, the school coordinated intensively with the Education Office.

Mahfud added that parents also contributed by providing computer and laptop devices.

“We have also coordinated with relevant agencies to ensure the availability of electricity and internet. Parental support was significant; some were even willing to lend computers or laptops if there were shortages at school,” said Mahfud.

Similar to the preparations at SD Negeri Awado, the Head of SD Inpres 1 Serui, Herdelina Sembay, described the TKA preparation stages at her school, from practising questions to reinforcing lesson materials.

“Our teachers routinely provided question practice before students went home. The children were very enthusiastic, and parents supported by waiting until late afternoon,” she said.

Not only for school heads, the students also benefited from the TKA implementation.

One of them is Julio Iwanggin, a student at SD Inpres 1 Serui. Although initially nervous before the exam, that feeling disappeared after he carefully read the questions and was able to answer well.

The implementation of TKA in Yapen Islands Regency serves as a real example of the joint commitment between the government, schools, teachers, parents, and students in realising quality, inclusive, and equitable education to the remotest parts of Indonesia.
