MANADO (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) will provide scholarships for 150,000 teachers seeking to pursue D4 or undergraduate (S1) education in 2026.

“We announce that in 2026, Kemendikdasmen will allocate scholarship assistance for teachers participating in D4 or S1 programmes at Rp3 million per semester for 150,000 teachers across Indonesia,” said the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, in Manado on Tuesday.

He stated that registration for the programme has already begun and remains open, as the quota of 150,000 has not yet been fully filled.

According to the Minister, once teachers complete the D4 or S1 programme, they can participate in the PPG (Teacher Professional Education) programme, and upon passing PPG and meeting certification requirements, they will hopefully receive certification allowances.

“This is part of the President’s commitment to improving the welfare and qualifications of teachers throughout Indonesia,” he said.

There are 2,961 certified ASN school principals and 258 uncertified ones.

Furthermore, for the ASN P3K teacher programme from 2021-2024, the total passers number 10,050, while part-time P3K passers in 2024 total 2,078, and passers from the P3K community school teacher recruitment programme number 28.

For the 2025 PPG and S1 qualification programme, 11,698 have passed PPG, or 70.60 per cent, and 4,870 have not, or 29.40 per cent.

“611 have registered for the S1 qualification programme, or 14.43 per cent, and 3,623 have not registered, or 85.57 per cent,” said the Minister.

The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education conducted a working visit to Manado for the ‘Inauguration of Education Unit Revitalisation across North Sulawesi Province’. The inauguration took place at TK Negeri 10 in Manado.
