Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education: Participation of Primary and Junior Secondary Students in TKA Exceeds 95 Percent

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) stated that the participation rate of students in primary and junior secondary education levels for the inaugural Academic Ability Test (TKA) this year exceeded 95 percent.

The Head of the Basic and Secondary Education Policy Agency (BKPDM) of Kemendikdasmen, Toni Toharudin, said that the implementation of TKA this year showed positive achievements, with an average participation rate above 95 percent in each wave.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the implementation of TKA this year for both primary and junior secondary shows achievements that I consider encouraging. So, if we look at the participation percentages from the majority of waves, they show positive percentages,” Toni said during an event titled Media Meeting on the Implementation of the Academic Ability Test for Primary/MI/Equivalent and Junior Secondary/MTs/Equivalent Levels in Tangerang Regency, Banten Province, on Thursday afternoon.

For the TKA implementation at the junior secondary level, which concluded some time ago, they recorded a total student participation of 97.22 percent, with 4.2 million attendees out of 4.3 million registrants.

Meanwhile, for the TKA at the primary level, which is ongoing until today, he mentioned that the total student participation reached 98.51 percent, with 8.8 million attendees out of 8.9 million registrants.

From the TKA implementation for these two education levels, Toni said one evaluation noted by his side is the special wave implementation for participants from non-formal education units that requires a more adaptive testing approach.

For information, the TKA for primary education took place from 20 to 30 April 2026, with make-up exams from 11 to 17 May 2026.

The announcement of TKA results for primary education will be held from 18 to 23 May 2026.
