Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) stated that the National Education Day (Hardiknas) event in Pamekasan Regency, East Java, broke a MURI record after 24,000 students participated in the Great Indonesian Children’s Exercise (SAIH). ‘We appreciate the efforts of the East Java Provincial Government and Pamekasan Regency Government in continuously advancing the education sector. This MURI record-breaking is a tangible proof of universal participation in achieving Quality Education for All in East Java,’ said Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti in a written statement received in Jakarta on Sunday. In addition to strengthening learning quality, Kemendikdasmen continues to promote student character development through the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children (7 KAIH) programme, which includes activities such as waking up early, praying, exercising, eating healthy and nutritious meals, studying diligently, engaging in community activities, and sleeping early. ‘If we want to build a civilisation, it must start with good habits. Therefore, adopt the 7 KAIH habits to become a great generation of Indonesians who can improve Pamekasan Regency,’ Mu’ti added. At the same event, Pamekasan Regent Kholilurrahman stated the occasion was a source of pride for the local community, having been entrusted to host the 2026 East Java Provincial National Education Day finale. Currently, the regency has around 500 educational institutions that are crucial in shaping the character of the youth. ‘The education sector is not only a medium for knowledge transfer but also a platform for building civilisation, forming character, and instilling discipline. Therefore, the SAIH activity aligns with our efforts to create healthy, intelligent, and competitive human resources,’ said Regent Kholil. At the event, the Minister and Pamekasan Regent honoured education practitioners who have excelled and brought pride to Pamekasan Regency.
