Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Launches Women's Empowerment Month through Education
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Language Development and Cultivation Agency (Badan Bahasa) of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has launched Women’s Empowerment Month through Education to address the real challenges still faced by women.
Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti stated that this launch serves as a response to the tangible challenges confronting women, ranging from limited access to education and uneven support for high aspirations, to gender stereotypes and threats of violence in physical and digital spaces.
“In line with the fourth of President’s Asta Cita, regarding the strengthening of human resources and gender mainstreaming, we are committed to providing greater opportunities for women to access education and develop their potential,” said Mendikdasmen Mu’ti during the Women’s Empowerment Month through Education event at the Badan Bahasa Kemendikdasmen office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
Furthermore, he noted that this year’s launch activities are themed “Women’s Empowerment: Realise Quality Education for All”.
Through education, he continued, the quality of human resources is strengthened, women’s participation in development is expanded, and families and society are encouraged to become more knowledgeable, empowered, and civilised.
On the same occasion, Head of Badan Bahasa Kemendikdasmen Hafidz Muksin stated that education serves as the primary means of empowering women through character building, literacy, and gender equality, enabling women to fully participate in political, economic, social, cultural, and linguistic spheres.
As part of education, language and literature naturally play a crucial role in building media, shaping awareness, sharpening critical thinking, and providing spaces for reflection on women’s contributions to social, educational, cultural, and national life.
Therefore, he added, the series of launch activities includes policy dialogues, educational campaigns, literacy strengthening, dissemination of best practices, educational activations, book reviews, as well as learning and community service activities themed on women’s empowerment through education.
