Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Issues Circular on Energy-Efficient Face-to-Face Learning
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has issued the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Circular Number 10 of 2026 to ensure that face-to-face learning in schools continues normally while supporting energy-saving policies. Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti stated that the circular covers the implementation of face-to-face learning to optimise learning achievements and strengthen character in schools. “Face-to-face learning remains a priority. At the same time, we encourage educational units to actively contribute to energy efficiency policies through the habituation of thrifty and environmentally friendly behaviour in schools,” Mu’ti said in Jakarta on Wednesday. In the policy, his side is implementing a work-from-home (WFH) pattern for civil servants (ASN) for one day in every five working days, as well as encouraging efficiency in various sectors, including energy use and mobility. His side views the continuity of face-to-face learning as part of efforts to maintain public service stability in education, while supporting the development of quality human resources. In addition, non-academic activities such as sports, extracurriculars, and student achievement development can still be carried out without restrictions, as part of holistic learning. Therefore, in the circular, he urged educational units to optimise energy use wisely. Kemendikdasmen also invites all education stakeholders, from local governments, school principals, teachers, to parents, to jointly maintain the continuity of learning and support national policies aimed at maintaining economic stability and energy resilience. “With synergy from all parties, it is hoped that education services will continue to run optimally, while contributing to national efforts to achieve efficiency and sustainability,” Mu’ti said.
