Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Extends Account Activation Period for Indonesia Smart Programme Recipients
Jakarta — The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has extended the account activation period for recipients of educational assistance funds under the Indonesia Smart Programme (PIP).
Andhika Ganendra, Head of the Education Finance Service Centre (Puslapdik) at Kemendikdasmen, stated that the activation deadline for PIP fund recipients has been extended to 13 March 2026, one week before the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
“The deadline has been extended until just before Eid. It was originally scheduled for 28 February, but we have extended it again to 13 March,” Andhika said following his presentation at a Kemendikdasmen Policy Dialogue event in Tangerang Selatan, Banten Province, on Monday.
He explained that the extension was necessary because many prospective PIP fund recipients have yet to activate their accounts. As a result, substantial amounts of PIP funding currently remain unused in recipient accounts and would be transferred back to state coffers if not withdrawn by recipients before the deadline.
“The usual practice is to return funds in March (for the PIP budget). I wanted to request permission to extend the return deadline,” he stated.
Before activating their accounts, students—with assistance from parents or their schools—can independently check their PIP recipient status through the Indonesia Smart Programme Information System (SIPINTAR) or the official PIP website.
According to Secretariat General Regulation No. 14 of 2022 on the Implementation Guidelines for the Indonesia Smart Programme for Basic and Secondary Education, the 2026 PIP disbursement schedule is divided into three tranches:
Tranche 1 (February–April): This tranche is allocated exclusively for students who also hold an Indonesia Smart Card (KIP).
Tranche 2 (May–September): Recipients for this tranche are selected based on recommendations from education offices and stakeholders. Recipients must have activated their nomination letters.
Tranche 3 (October–December): This tranche covers children who fall within the categories of tranches 1 and 2.
