Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Educates Teachers in Garut to Prevent Violence and Corruption

Garut (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is educating teachers in Garut Regency, West Java, to gain an understanding of preventing acts of violence and corruption in educational environments as preparation for building a strong and honest national character. “We have a target to prevent corruption starting from educational units,” said Acting Secretary of the Inspectorate General, Kemendikdasmen, Ferdian Amran, after the event on Internalising Corruption Prevention and Handling Violence to Create Safe and Comfortable Schools in Garut Regency, West Java, on Thursday. He explained that Kemendikdasmen has been actively working not only in Garut Regency but throughout Indonesia to educate teachers and socialise Ministerial Regulation on Basic and Secondary Education No. 6 of 2026 on Safe and Comfortable Schools. So far, he continued, there have been incidents that have gone viral and become topics of discussion on social media regarding acts of violence occurring in school environments, particularly against teachers. He conveyed that Kemendikdasmen hopes the school environment, especially now in Garut Regency, must become a safe and comfortable place for both teachers and students. The event, he said, featured participants from teachers representing primary and secondary schools to gain knowledge and understanding about efforts to prevent corrupt behaviour as well as acts of violence. “Teachers who receive knowledge from this official material can disseminate it further; we hope this knowledge can be spread to all students and all educational personnel,” he stated. Some teachers, he added, sometimes feel afraid of making mistakes in taking action, so this socialisation and educational activity provides understanding to teachers regarding the steps that must be taken in preventing violence and corrupt behaviour. “That’s why we convey what steps must be followed regarding violence,” he said. The event was attended by one hundred teachers representing several schools in Garut Regency, as well as several Kemendikdasmen officials and Ferdiansyah, a member of the House of Representatives’ Commission X, as a partner with the ministry.
