Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has delegated the utilisation of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) for the achievement pathway in the New Student Admission Selection (SPMB) to local governments.

The Head of the Basic and Secondary Education Policy Agency (BKPDM) of Kemendikdasmen, Toni Toharudin, stated that the weighting or proportion of TKA in SPMB for entry into junior secondary (SMP) or senior secondary (SMA) levels is entirely handed over to local governments (pemda).

“Indeed, TKA will be closely related to SPMB, but it is the authority of local governments to determine the proportion or weight and so on. However, generally, all local governments do use these TKA results for the achievement pathway in SPMB,” said Toni in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He emphasised that his side continues to coordinate with local governments so that the delivery of TKA results can be carried out quickly for the benefit of SPMB in each region.

Based on the regulation, he continued, the provisions for admission pathways and their percentage quotas remain the same with no changes.

“As for the position or policy on the use of TKA in this (Ministerial Regulation on Education 3/2025), it is indeed not yet specifically regulated in the achievement pathway admissions,” he said.

Although not yet regulated, his side has issued Circular Letter (SE) from the Director General of Early Childhood Education and Basic and Secondary Education Number 0301/C/HK.04.01/2026.

Yusro stated that the SE emphasises the usefulness of using TKA scores as one of the components in the selection for the achievement pathway in SPMB 2026.
