Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Commends Revitalisation of 29 Schools in Pidie Jaya
The Aceh Provincial Government and Pidie Jaya District Government have commended the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) for implementing the School Unit Revitalisation Programme in 2025, which has successfully reconstructed several educational facilities following the disaster. The appreciation was conveyed at the inauguration of 29 revitalised schools held at SMA Negeri 1 Meureudeu, Pidie Jaya District, on Monday, 9 March 2026.
The Head of Aceh Provincial Education Office, Murthalamuddin, expressed gratitude for the commitment of Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti, who has repeatedly visited Aceh to directly monitor the restoration of educational services. He assessed that the education sector has experienced the fastest progress among all sectors following the disaster in the region.
“Education is the sector with the fastest recovery pace following the disaster in Aceh. This is inseparable from the hard work of Minister Mu’ti and his team through various priority programmes of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education,” said Murthalamuddin in his remarks.
He added that the successful school revitalisation has served as an inspiration for all education stakeholders to continue recovering from the impact of flooding that struck several areas in Aceh. He noted that the recovery efforts are expected to inspire other regions to continue strengthening educational services for the future of young generations.
Pidie Jaya Regent Sibral Malasyi explained that the school revitalisation programme in his district was implemented in phases and progressed well throughout 2025. The programme has reached various educational levels, from early childhood education to vocational secondary schools.
“In 2025, the revitalisation programme in Pidie Jaya District reached three kindergartens, 16 primary schools, four junior secondary schools, four senior secondary schools, and two vocational schools. This programme is part of a joint effort to ensure that the learning process takes place in a safe and comfortable environment amid the post-disaster situation,” said Sibral.
He hopes that school revitalisation will improve the quality of educational facilities in his district, thereby providing better learning opportunities for all school communities. Additionally, Sibral emphasised the importance of synergy between central and local governments in accelerating education recovery.
“We thank the officials of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education who have given full attention and support to Pidie Jaya District. We hope that this visit and inauguration bring new momentum for the advancement of education in our region,” he said.
Responding to this, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti expressed gratitude to the Pidie Jaya District Government and Aceh Provincial Education Office for their close cooperation in efforts to rebuild the education sector following the disaster. He valued the collaboration as key to realising the development of educational infrastructure as the foundation for enlightening national life.
“We must rise and stand firm in facing various challenges. Hardship is Allah’s way of elevating our dignity and honour. Along with difficulty comes ease, so let us rise with confidence that through synergy, all problems can be resolved well,” said Abdul Mu’ti.
Furthermore, he affirmed that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education will continue the school revitalisation programme in 2026 in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s direction. The programme will be prioritised in three main categories: schools affected by disasters, schools with severely damaged buildings, and schools in disadvantaged, frontier, and outlying areas (3T).
The 29 educational units revitalised in Pidie Jaya District in 2025 encompass various educational levels, ranging from kindergarten to vocational secondary schools. The programme is expected to be a strategic step in accelerating recovery and improving the quality of education in the Aceh region.
