Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Allocates PIP Scholarships for 888,000 Kindergarten Pupils
Manado (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has allocated scholarships under the Indonesia Pintar Programme (PIP) for 888,000 kindergarten pupils this year.
“For the first time in history, kindergarten pupils are receiving PIP scholarships of Rp450,000 per year. This year, we are allocating them for 888,000 kindergarten pupils,” said the Minister of Education, Abdul Mu’ti, at the ‘Inauguration of Education Unit Revitalisation across North Sulawesi Province in Minahasa’ event on Wednesday.
The Minister stated that, in addition to PIP scholarships for kindergarten pupils, Kemendikdasmen is also allocating the same scholarships for primary school (SD), junior secondary (SMP), senior secondary (SMA), and vocational secondary (SMK) pupils.
“The number of PIP scholarship recipients for SD, SMP, SMA, and SMK levels this year has increased compared to last year,” said the Minister.
In 2025, Kemendikdasmen plans to allocate PIP scholarships for 19 million recipients, while this year the number of recipients has increased to 19.6 million across Indonesia.
“This is a form of the President’s commitment to advancing education and realising the fourth Asta Cita, namely building human resources,” the Minister added.
The Minister also highlighted the President’s other programme on ‘13 Years of Compulsory Education’ starting from kindergarten.
“Therefore, this year we will prioritise the revitalisation of schools in areas affected by disasters and 3T regions,” said the Minister.
“One village should have at least one kindergarten,” said the Minister.
