Ministry of Agriculture Reports Surplus of 800,000 Sacrificial Animals for Eid al-Adha
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono confirmed that national sacrificial animal supplies for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah are secure. This year, the national supply of sacrificial animals is estimated to have a surplus of approximately 800,000 animals.
The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) recorded a total national supply of sacrificial animals at approximately 3.2 million animals, with demand estimated at 2.4 to 2.5 million animals.
‘This means alhamdulillah, Allah has granted His mercy and blessings to our nation. Amid global conflicts, we remain in a good position,’ said Sudaryono during the sacrificial animal slaughter event at Nurul Iman Mosque, Ministry of Agriculture Headquarters in Jakarta.
He stated that the surplus demonstrates the resilience of the national livestock sector despite global challenges. He added that the high number of sacrificial animals reflects public optimism and their ability to continue the tradition.
Kementan also noted an upward trend in public participation in kurban. According to iSIKHNAS data, the number of sacrificial animals slaughtered in 2025 reached 2,268,764, a 11.5% increase from 2,033,995 in 2024.
This rise in participation is also evident within Kementan. This year, Nurul Iman Mosque recorded its highest kurban count with 49 animals, comprising 41 cattle and eight goats.
‘Insha’Allah, our country is doing well, with positive growth, as evidenced by the kurban participation at this mosque alone,’ Sudaryono said.
Kurban numbers at Nurul Iman Mosque have risen sharply compared to previous years. In 2024, there were two cattle and 15 goats; this increased to nine cattle and 10 goats in 2025 before surging to 41 cattle and eight goats in 2026.
