Ministry of Agriculture Prepares Technical Guidelines for SPPG Egg Absorption at Rp 26,500 per Kilogram

The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) is preparing technical guidelines (Juknis) for the absorption of eggs by all Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) at a price of Rp 26,500 per kilogram, in a bid to strengthen price stabilisation and protect smallholder farmers. Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Suganda, stated that the policy was prepared under the direct instruction of the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, to maintain egg prices at the producer level. “Essentially, SPPG are required to absorb eggs from surrounding farmers at the government purchase price (HPP) of Rp 26,500 per kilogram,” Agung said in Jakarta on Tuesday (4/8/2026). The Ministry, together with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), farmer cooperatives, the feed industry, the Police Food Task Force, state-owned enterprises, and business actors, is seeking solutions as egg prices at the farm level remain below expectations. Agung noted that the Minister of Agriculture will send a letter to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, to issue the technical guidelines. The Ministry expressed confidence that the increased demand through the SPPG programme will help accelerate the recovery of egg prices and ensure the sustainable income of smallholder farmers.
