Ministry of Agriculture Holds Free Animal Healthcare and Cheap Food Bazaar for 81st Independence Day
The Cinagara Animal Health Training Centre (BBPKH), a technical implementation unit of the Ministry of Agriculture, held a series of social and educational activities titled ‘Semarak Kemerdekaan’ to welcome the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (12/8/2026). The event presented various free services addressing community needs, ranging from animal health services and food safety literacy to children’s education.
Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman commended the centre’s concrete efforts in translating the value of independence into actions directly felt by residents. ‘The spirit of independence must be realised through actions that have a direct impact. The government must be present to provide services, educate, and help meet the community’s needs,’ Amran stated on Friday (14/8/2026).
One of the main programmes that attracted public attention was the provision of free treatment, therapy, and rabies vaccinations for pets. In the second wave of implementation on 12 August 2026, the BBPKH Cinagara clinic treated 21 animals with various health complaints. The centre also held the WinDay (One Day Million Skills) programme, which provided education on the safe handling and storage of meat to around 70 in-person participants and hundreds of viewers via a YouTube live stream.
Idha Widi Arsanti, Head of the Agricultural Human Resources Extension and Development Agency (BPPSDMP), stressed the importance of food literacy for the public. ‘Knowledge transfer must provide tangible benefits and be applicable in daily life. Literacy regarding animal-based food is important to build a society that is increasingly aware of food quality and safety,’ she said.
To foster awareness among the younger generation towards the agricultural and livestock sectors from an early age, the Farmtastic Spesial Kemerdekaan activity involved 91 elementary school students from Caringin and Cigombong sub-districts through a colouring competition and a direct educational farm tour. The series of events concluded with a Red and White Food Bazaar, which provided various staple goods, agribusiness products, and subsidised processed foods with discounts of up to five per cent for local residents.
Head of BBPKH Cinagara, Inneke Kusumawaty, affirmed that the celebration was part of the institution’s service to the community. ‘We fill this independence momentum with activities that provide real benefits. We want the community to feel the presence of BBPKH Cinagara directly through services and education that are close to their needs,’ she concluded.
