Ministry Issues Written Warning to 22 Unregistered Digital Platforms

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has issued written warnings to 22 Electronic System Operators (PSE) that were notified last week to promptly fulfil their registration obligations in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.

PSE registration in the government’s system is in fact regulated under Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation Number 5 of 2020 concerning Private-Scope Electronic System Operators (PM Kominfo 5/2020).

“Through this warning letter, we are giving the PSEs an opportunity to promptly fulfil their registration obligations before law enforcement steps are taken in accordance with prevailing provisions,” said Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Kemkomdigi, in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

Previously, on Wednesday (1 July), Kemkomdigi stated that the government had sent notifications to 25 private-scope PSEs to fulfil their registration obligations. Broadly speaking, these PSEs are owned by hotel service providers, airline service providers, and even fitness tracking app providers.

Meanwhile, the remaining 22 PSEs have not shown a similar response and remain unregistered in the system provided by the government.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Communication and Digital issued warning letters as a follow-up to its compliance supervision of PSEs in accordance with prevailing regulations.

“We ask all private-scope PSEs to promptly register so that the public can obtain legal certainty over the digital services they use,” said Alexander.

The government has given the PSEs a deadline to respond to the warning no later than 13 July 2026.

If the PSEs in question still fail to fulfil their registration obligations, the government will take enforcement steps in accordance with prevailing provisions, including blocking access to the electronic systems.

Alexander also stated that Kemkomdigi is opening a clarification channel for PSEs facing technical difficulties or other obstacles in the registration process.

The government remains committed to realising safe digital space governance through supervision of electronic system operators and enforcement of prevailing provisions.
