Ministry Issues Written Warning to 22 Unregistered Digital Platforms

The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has issued written warnings to 22 private electronic system operators (PSEs) that were notified last week to immediately fulfil their registration obligations in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations. The registration of PSEs into the government’s system is mandated by Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation Number 5 of 2020 concerning Private Scope Electronic System Operators (PM Kominfo 5/2020). Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Kemkomdigi, Alexander Sabar, stated that the warning letters provide an opportunity for the PSEs to comply before law enforcement measures are taken. Previously, on Wednesday (1/7), the ministry had sent notifications to 25 private PSEs, which broadly include providers of hotel services, airline services, and fitness monitoring applications. While three have responded, the remaining 22 have yet to register in the government’s system. The ministry has set a deadline of 13 July 2026 for the operators to respond to the warning. Should they fail to meet their registration obligations, the government will proceed with enforcement actions, including the potential termination of access to their electronic systems. Alexander also noted that the ministry is open to clarifications from PSEs facing technical or other obstacles in the registration process. The government remains committed to establishing safe digital space governance through the supervision of electronic system operations and the enforcement of applicable regulations.
