Ministry Issues Guidelines for 2026 National Children's Day Celebrations

The 42nd National Children’s Day (HAN) will be commemorated on 23 July 2026. The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (Kemen PPPA) has published official guidelines to serve as a reference for the government, schools, communities, and the public in organising various activities. The guidelines include a brief history, objectives, theme, logo, principles of implementation, a series of events, and technical guidance for holding celebrations across different regions. National Children’s Day is observed every 23 July based on Presidential Decree Number 44 of 1984, coinciding with the ratification of Law Number 4 of 1979 on Child Welfare. Kemen PPPA stated that the commemoration is a momentum to campaign for the fulfilment of children’s rights and protection, enabling them to live, grow, develop, participate, and receive protection from violence and discrimination. The theme for the 42nd National Children’s Day is ‘Sayang Anak, Lindungi dan Bangun Masa Depan’ (Love Children, Protect and Build the Future). This theme calls on all parties to strengthen affection, protection, and support for children’s development towards the Golden Generation of Indonesia 2045. The official logo features three children holding the Indonesian flag, symbolising equal opportunities for every child to achieve their dreams, a spirit of nationalism, and a commitment to fulfilling children’s rights and protection according to their needs and conditions. The peak of the commemoration is on 23 July 2026, but activities may be held before or after that date according to local needs. National activities include the declaration of the National Movement #RANA, the launch of the ‘Bulan Bersama Lindungi Anak’ (BERLIAN) campaign, the Jelajah SAPA programme, a creative video competition, the ‘Gerak Bersama Anak Indonesia’ event, a National Children’s Forum workshop, children’s visits to Bogor Palace or government offices, the Kids Take Over programme, Main Raya Nusantara, and a children’s cultural festival. The guidelines emphasise a decentralised concept, allowing commemorations to be held at provincial, district, city, village, school, and community levels. Key principles include being child-friendly, participatory, collaborative, impactful, appreciative, and integrated with the Gernas #RANA movement. Children are expected to be involved from the planning stage through to implementation. Educational units are encouraged to hold enjoyable, safe, and inclusive activities such as traditional games, outdoor learning, discussion spaces for children, and strengthening the Healthy School and Adiwiyata programmes. Local governments and villages can adapt activities based on local conditions and potential while prioritising child protection principles.
