Ministry Issues Guidelines for 2026 National Children's Day Celebrations
The 42nd National Children’s Day (HAN) will be commemorated on 23 July 2026. Ahead of the commemoration, the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (Kemen PPPA) has published guidelines as a reference for government, schools, communities and the wider public in organising a series of activities.

History and Purpose of National Children’s Day
According to the Guidelines for the 42nd National Children’s Day 2026 issued by Kemen PPPA, National Children’s Day is commemorated every 23 July based on Presidential Decree Number 44 of 1984. The date was chosen because it coincides with the ratification of Law Number 4 of 1979 on Child Welfare.
Kemen PPPA explains that National Children’s Day serves as a moment to campaign for the fulfilment of children’s rights so that they can live, grow, develop, participate, and receive protection from violence and discrimination. The commemoration also aims to raise awareness among all stakeholders and promote the National Movement #RamahAmanNyamanAnak (Gernas #RANA).
Theme and Logo of National Children’s Day 2026
The official guidelines set the theme for the 42nd National Children’s Day 2026 as ‘Love Children, Protect and Build the Future’. The theme invites all parties to strengthen affection, protection and support for children’s growth and development towards the Golden Generation of Indonesia 2045.
Kemen PPPA has also released an official logo featuring three children holding the Red-and-White Flag. The logo symbolises equal opportunity for every child to achieve their aspirations, the spirit of nationalism, and a commitment to fulfilling children’s rights and protection according to their needs and circumstances.

Guidelines for Organising HAN 2026
Kemen PPPA explains that the organisation of National Children’s Day 2026 embraces a decentralised concept. This means the commemoration is not centred in a single location, but can be carried out down to the provincial, regency/city, village, neighbourhood, school and community levels.
In its implementation, the guidelines emphasise several key principles: child-friendly, participatory, collaborative, impactful, appreciative, and integrated with Gernas #RANA. Children are also expected to be involved from the planning stage, through implementation, to experiencing the benefits of each activity.
Meanwhile, educational institutions are encouraged to hold activities that are enjoyable, safe, inclusive and meaningful, such as traditional games, activities outside the classroom, discussion spaces for children, and strengthening of the Healthy School and Adiwiyata School programmes. Regional governments and villages may also adapt activities according to local conditions and potential while continuing to prioritise the principle of child protection.
