Ministry Expands Reproductive Health Access in Papua

The Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga)/BKKBN is strengthening access to basic health services for the community through the implementation of simultaneous family planning (KB) services in various regions of Indonesia, including Papua Province. Wamendukbangga/Wakil Kepala BKKBN Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, during a visit to the Information and Social Advocacy Clinic (KIAS) at the BKKBN Representative Office in Papua, stated that the simultaneous family planning services are part of the government’s effort to make reproductive health services more accessible to the public, while supporting the development of healthy and quality families. “When we talk about improving the quality of human resources, family development is an important part that we must undertake together. Therefore, the various programmes being implemented require collaboration from many parties,” she said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. The activity is also part of the series of events for the 2026 National Family Day (Harganas), with the national peak commemoration having been held on 29 June 2026 in Yogyakarta. “Family development plays an important role in ensuring that the community gains access to needed services, especially those related to family health and reproductive health,” she said. At the service held at the KIAS of the BKKBN Papua Representative Office, 14 acceptors were recorded as receiving contraceptive services, consisting of 13 acceptors for the implant contraceptive method and one acceptor for injectable contraceptive services. This service is part of the government’s commitment to ensuring that access to family planning services can be felt equally by the community. Through various priority programmes, Kemendukbangga/BKKBN continues to improve family planning services throughout Indonesia as part of the effort to bring services closer to the community, while strengthening family development as the main foundation of national development.
