Ministry expands quality education coverage through distance learning
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti said the program reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that every Indonesian child has access to quality education, regardless of geographical, economic, or social barriers.
“We must emphasize that education is no longer viewed merely as formal classroom activity, but as a learning process that can reach all segments of society,” he said in a written statement on Saturday.
He also highlighted the importance of digital technology in supporting the program.
The ministry is promoting technology-based learning, including plans to develop learning studios that will enable top teachers to deliver lessons to students in various regions in real time.
“We have developed the Rumah Pendidikan super application as part of learning digitalization that can be accessed by anyone,” he said.
He added that distance learning must also focus on character building and competency development, with teachers playing a key role in balancing knowledge, skills, and character.
In the initial phase, 20 schools have been designated as partner institutions and pioneers in implementing the program.
“We hope these schools can serve as models of best practices in distance learning and provide real solutions to achieving equitable, inclusive, and quality education for all children,” he said.
