Ministry Ensures Timely Supply of Spices and Ready-to-Eat Meals for Hajj 2026
The Directorate General for the Development of the Hajj and Umrah Economic Ecosystem (Ditjen PE2HU) of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has assured that the production and distribution of spices and ready-to-eat (RTE) meals for the 2026 Hajj organisation are proceeding as planned.
This assurance was conveyed during a coordination meeting with spice and RTE suppliers in Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3). The meeting forms part of anticipatory measures to ensure all pilgrim consumption needs are met ahead of Hajj operations.
Director of Partnership Facilitation for PE2HU, Tri Hidayatno, stated that his side continues to oversee the entire supply chain, from production processes to distribution in Saudi Arabia.
“Our focus is on ensuring that spice and RTE production is ready, distribution reaches the kitchens on target, and all potential shipping obstacles are mitigated from the outset,” said Tri.
He explained that the spice needs for this Hajj season are estimated at 360 tonnes. This amount covers 28 types of spices for the Mecca region and 23 types for Medina, adjusted to the service duration in each area.
In addition, the provision of ready-to-eat meals is being carried out on a large scale, following the total operational days for pilgrim consumption services.
On the distribution side, some shipments have already been made, and some have even arrived in Jeddah. Meanwhile, other shipments are still in process and are targeted to be completed no later than 10 April 2026, before the arrival of Hajj officials in Saudi Arabia.
“We ensure that all these needs arrive on time. If there are shipping obstacles, we immediately prepare alternative options so as not to disrupt pilgrim services,” he emphasised.
Not only ensuring smooth distribution, Ditjen PE2HU will also conduct supervision of spice usage in catering kitchens. This effort aims for the sent materials to be utilised optimally and to serve as evaluation material for improving service quality in the future.
Overall, the readiness of production and distribution of spices and RTE for Hajj 2026 is deemed to be on the planned track, in line with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s commitment to maintaining the quality of consumption services for Indonesian pilgrims.
