Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu’ti said the 24,000 children’s books are distributed across nine homecoming departure points in two provinces, namely Jakarta and Banten.

“The program is held at nine locations, more than last year’s six locations, and the number of books has also increased to 24,000 this year,” Mu’ti said after launching the 2026 MABB program on Monday.

He expressed hope that the program will make the homecoming journey to reunite with family as enjoyable and happy as possible.

The annual program reflects the ministry’s commitment to fostering literacy interest and culture among children by providing quality reading materials appropriate for their age levels.

The minister also said the MABB initiative aims to reduce children’s dependence on electronic gadgets, especially during the school holiday period during Eid.

Therefore, the ministry seeks to increase the availability of quality children’s books while improving their design and size to make them easier to carry and more appealing to read.

“This is part of our effort to encourage children to hold books more often than gadgets, so we will make future book editions more handy and colorful,” Mu’ti said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Language Agency Hafidz Muksin said this year’s MABB program covers nine locations, including Pasar Senen and Gambir train stations, several bus terminals, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, and the Merak and Tanjung Priok seaports.
