Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf distributed the assistance alongside Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian at the District Head’s Office in East Aceh, Aceh Province, on Monday.

“We hope this aid will be truly helpful for household recovery, both in terms of home infrastructure and family economies,” Yusuf told the press after the handover ceremony.

He pointed out that each family could receive Rp60 million (around US$3,500), which includes additional aid valued at Rp3 million for home furnishings, Rp5 million as an economic stimulus, and Rp5.4 million to meet daily needs.

The ministry, he continued, refers to verified data provided by the East Aceh government to distribute the assistance, noting that the number of recipients is expected to grow as data updates are processed.

Yusuf explained that the disbursement process entails his office forwarding the data to the Ministry of Finance for approval before issuing a letter instructing state postal company PT Pos Indonesia to distribute the assistance to targeted residents.

He underlined that the government has set three main distribution methods: beneficiaries redeeming aid at post offices, disbursements through community groups, and delivery to the homes of designated local figures.

He added that Pos Indonesia will apply a door-to-door scheme for elderly residents unable to attend aid distribution sites.

“In Aceh, aid is being distributed by PT Pos Indonesia in pursuit of swiftness and accessibility,” Yusuf said.

The minister also urged beneficiaries to maximize the aid by directing its use toward recovery from disaster impacts, in line with the government’s intent.
