Ministry: Deep Learning Boosts Student Interest in Thousand Islands
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has stated that the application of deep learning is helping teachers to increase students’ interest in learning in the Thousand Islands Regency, DKI Jakarta Province.
Kaswiyah, Head of SDN Pulau Tidung 01 Pagi, said the implementation of the deep learning approach is capable of creating a more enjoyable learning atmosphere while encouraging students to understand the material more deeply, as seen at SDN Pulau Tidung 01 Pagi.
“I encourage teachers to implement learning that makes children happy first. If they are happy, they will usually find it easier to understand the lesson and be brave enough to show their abilities,” Kaswiyah stated on Pulau Tidung on Friday.
According to her, an enjoyable learning atmosphere can help students focus more on receiving the material compared to learning methods that merely require them to listen and memorise. Therefore, her school is striving to create teaching and learning activities that are not only enjoyable but also mindful, so that students are able to understand concepts thoroughly, connect them with various disciplines, and apply them in daily life.
“The important thing is that the children are happy while learning. When they enjoy the process, learning becomes more effective and the message conveyed by the teacher is more easily received,” she said.
Through this approach, the school is supporting the ministry in preparing a younger generation that is more critical, creative, adaptive to the times, and capable of connecting the knowledge learned with real-life challenges.
