Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection is coordinating with the Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) of West Java Province to handle the recovery of a woman, identified by the initials YTR (29), who was a victim of confinement and severe abuse in Cinunyi, Cileunyi District, Bandung Regency, West Java. Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi stated in Jakarta on Monday that the ministry, together with the West Java UPTD PPA, will continue to coordinate with West Java Regional Police investigators, the medical team at Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and other relevant parties to ensure the legal process and the victim’s recovery proceed optimally. Legal assistance will also be provided through coordination with the Jabar Istimewa Legal Team. Minister Arifah Fauzi said the victim will undergo further assessment, psychological counselling, and psychological examinations to support her mental and emotional recovery following the violence. This assistance is expected to help the victim regain a sense of security and improve her quality of life. The minister emphasised that the victim’s recovery focuses not only on her physical condition but also on her psychological state. Therefore, the ministry is ensuring the victim receives the necessary assessment, counselling services, and psychological support to aid her recovery process. Meanwhile, the victim’s family will receive psychological support so they can become the primary support system during her recovery. The victim is believed to have been tortured for three years by a man with the initials T (30), who remains at large. In this case, it was discovered that the victim had left and could not be contacted by her family for approximately three years. During that period, the victim moved residences several times and was known to be living with the alleged perpetrator without being married. The victim is suspected of having endured various forms of physical violence, ranging from beatings with bare hands to abuse using blunt and sharp objects. As a result of the prolonged violence, the victim sustained severe injuries to her head, face, and legs, visual impairment, damage to her lips causing speech difficulties, and impaired leg function that prevents her from walking normally.
